I really did not enjoy Mortal Shell when I finally got around to playing it, but I can see how it could be one of those games you come back to and find you actually like it better than you thought - I had a similar arc with Immortal: Unchained [aka Dark Souls With Guns] and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. I think what makes these games so love-or-hate is that they all have a bunch of interesting mechanics that just do not work that well, or don't deliver like you'd hope, and it takes foreknowledge to position yourself to actually enjoy them because otherwise they're just another point of friction. And Mortal Shell has more of those sorts of things than any similar game I can think of - the shell system, the slow, stiff animations that you have to be ready to manually interrupt, the overly conditional consumable items, all of it is confusing and miserable as you're going through an initial playthrough and makes you think 'this could be so much better with a few changes.'

Maybe I'll give the game another chance once the sequel is nearer - I think it looks a little better already just from the trailers and gameplay teasers, and was already willing to try it despite not liking the first game all that much.

Gran entrada!

Saludos!
